Invitation

We take great pleasure in inviting you to participate in the Tenth International Conference on the Chemistry of Selenium and tellurium (ICCST-10) which will be held at the University of £ód¼, Poland from 22 to 27 June 2007.
As in previous ICCST meetings, all aspects of selenium and tellurium chemistry will be represented. We are happy to announce that many eminent chemists have agreed to present plenary and invited lectures in the conference. We are sure that also your attendance and presentation of your own achievements will be vital to the success of the conference.

£ód¼, the second largest city in Poland is worth a visit, if only to sample the unique atmosphere of the town. Indeed, it could be claimed that £ód¼ has one of the best-preserved 19-th century cityscapes of anywhere in Europe. The imposing palatial residences of the rich factory owners mingle with the redbrick textile factories. A number of the latter have recently been restored. A good example is “Manufaktura”, an old large textile factory, which has been fully revitalized and transformed into a modern cultural and shopping centre. The neighboring Poznański Palace, which belonged to the former owner of this factory, now houses the Museum of £ód¼ History and the Museum of Artur Rubinstein, the world-famous piano player born in £ód¼. £ód¼ has a lively cultural life and is especially famous for the Film School and a film festival “Camerimage”. Recently many of the ornate houses which line Piotrkowska Street, the city’s main thoroughfare and centerpiece, have been restored and repainted. The street, which has been pedestrianized, positively buzzes with life in the evenings. There are literally hundreds of pubs, with excellent atmosphere for an evening beer.

We look forward to welcoming you to £ód¼ in June 2007.
